Pre-master Strategic Business Management and Marketing (SBM)
Our academic Pre-master Strategic Business Management and Marketing (SBM) grants direct access to the Master of Science programs in business-related programs at our academic partners and to our own Master of Science Leisure and Tourism Studies.
This pre-master’s track is open to all of our fourth-year students, third-year students who attend a fast track, and students of other institutes. After completion, you will have direct access to several Master of Science programs in business-related fields at the universities of Amsterdam, Maastricht, Rotterdam, Tilburg, Brussels or Warwick, as well as to our own Master of Science Leisure and Tourism Studies.
Admission requirements
- You have completed secondary school.
- Three years of professional bachelor's program in business-related studies (successfully completed = 180 ECTS). This means that you are not allowed to be behind academically the moment you embark on this track. Also short track students can apply.
English language requirements
You will also be required to demonstrate sufficient results on one of these tests:
- Cambridge C1 Advanced/ Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE), with a minimum subscore for Speaking of 169
- Cambridge C2 Advanced/ Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English, with a minimum subscore for Speaking of 169
- IELTS test (minimum overall band score of 6.0, and minimum subscore of 6.0 for speaking)
- TOEFL test (minimum score of 80 internet-based, and minimum subscore of 20 for speaking)

Program content
This program covers 12 months and is made up of two main phases:
Phase I Pre-master’s courses
Pre-master’s courses
- Business Qualitative and Quantitative Methods and Applied Statistics
- Socio-psychological Analysis of Consumer Behaviour
- Operations, Human Resource Management, Quality and Financial Management
- International Strategic Marketing, Marketing Communications, CRM and E-commerce
- Research Practical and academic skills
Phase 2 Final Research Project
Fieldwork in a sector of your choice and in a country of your choice. Examples of sectors are: the tourism and leisure industry, the sports and cultural sector, the hospitality and facility industry, the media and creative industries, public-sector organisations involved in destination development or the traffic, mobility, transport or logistics sectors. You will conduct academic, business-applied research with support from your tutor, and by means of peer supervision in the Research Practica workshops.
The Final Research Project is the core of this international pre-master’s business program. In order for our students to reach master’s level, we will ensure that the level of the research project is sufficiently challenging from an academic perspective. Of course, you will receive a great deal of support in order to achieve this master's level.
