If you are a foreign national, meaning you are not a citizen or permanent resident of Croatia, then a study permit (Visa C) will be required before you can formally enter Croatia to study. Students who are nationals of the EU, the EEA and Switzerland may stay in Croatia for a period up to three months after arrival. Students who intend to stay in Croatia longer than three months must declare a temporary residency.
A temporary residence permit is usually granted for a period of one year or for the duration of an academic year. Before you apply, make sure you have all the necessary documentation. Also, keep in mind that it usually takes 30 days from the day of submitting a properly filled-out request (the official has to issue a decision within that period), so apply with time!
Your Croatian permit also allows you to visit Romania, Bulgaria and Cyprus, so you can see more of the Balkans and beyond during your studies. If you want to travel elsewhere in the EU, then you'll need a separate Schengen tourist visa. You can get one of these once you've arrived in Croatia.
Information on countries subject to the visa requirement can be found on the web site of the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. Visas are issued by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. Visa applications (Visa C) can be submitted in person or via e-mail to the diplomatic mission or consulate of the Republic of Croatia of the foreign national’s home country. A list of missions and consulates is available on the web site of the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.
