Study in Finland: Tuition Fees & Scholarships

Birds-eye view of Helsinki

Students from the EU/EEA/ or Switzerland are privy to Finland’s world-class public education and are not required to pay tuition fees. That said, this does not include added expenses from materials and living costs, so make sure to incorporate these into your overall budget. Scholarship opportunities are also lower for students from these countries.

Non-EU/EEA students studying in Finland are required to pay tuition fees to pursue a bachelor’s and master’s level program in English. Doctorate programs are usually tuition free.

Each university sets their own fees, which can be different from program to program, but annual tuition fees  are set somewhere between €5,000 and €18,000 , not including general living expenses.

Fortunately, students who are required to pay tuition fees are also eligible to apply for an institution’s scholarship program, so make sure to check out the available scholarship opportunities when choosing a university in Finland!

It is worth bearing in mind that most scholarship options would only cover the tuition fee either 100% or partially. International students are usually expected to cover all their living expenses independently.
