Study in Argentina: Tuition Fees & Scholarships

Argentina’s higher education system is split between the public and private sectors. Tuition fees reflect this.
At public universities, there are no tuition fees. Once you have your Argentinian study permit in hand, you are exempt from any and all fees. Studying at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels is completely free.
However, this is not true of private universities. Private universities in Argentina are businesses and, as such, need to have a healthy turnover. Fees are largely unregulated by the government, but generally vary between US$5,000 and US$15,000 per year. The large variance is because more practical programs, like medicine or engineering, cost more to run, so cost more to study.
Costs for postgraduate programs at private universities can be higher than the US$15,000 mark, meaning that there are fewer international students enrolled on postgraduate programs at private Argentinian universities.
Fortunately, there are a number of scholarship options available. The most generous, and general, of these is the Fulbright Program. Open to anyone already enrolled or who has recently graduated from a US college, this scholarship funds a full academic year of study in Argentina, whilst also giving you an income through part-time work teaching English.
Additionally, the Gilman Scholarship Program is open to those from lower-income families, who might otherwise miss out on study abroad opportunities. Students with disabilities or who are from minority backgrounds are particularly encouraged to apply.
These are just two of the many scholarships available to international students from across disciplines and circumstances.
