CIES - International Centre for Sports Studies
CREATING AN IMPACT ON THE WAY SPORT IS MANAGED WORLDWIDE
CIES - International Centre for Sports Studies is an independent study centre located in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. It was created in 1995 as a foundation by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the University of Neuchâtel, the City and State of Neuchatel.
Using a multi-disciplinary approach (law, sociology, history and management), CIES provides research, top-level education and consulting services to the world of sport. Since its inception, CIES has aimed to be a bridge between the worlds of research, education and sports organisations.
At an educational level, CIES organises the FIFA Master - International Master in in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport as well as the FIFA/CIES University Network which brings together Universities from around the globe to propose a curriculum of continuing education in sports management. Also, CIES organises the Master of Sports Law at the Université de Neuchâtel (UNINE), Switzerland as well as a Certificate of Advanced Studies and a Diploma of Advanced Studies in Sports Law in Neuchâtel. Still at the Université de Neuchâtel, CIES researchers deliver courses in human sciences, Humanities (ECTS).
Moreover, CIES is a hub for research as the CIES Football Observatory, specialised in the statistical analysis of football/sports data, and the CIES Sports Intelligence, a team focusing on aspects of sports governance, finance, legal and development show.
Finally, CIES has an in-house Documentation Centre open to the public at its headquarters in Neuchâtel, Switzerland in addition to editing and publishing various publications. As an international centre, CIES has a qualified and diversified staff and continually expands its partnerships with individuals, universities and sports organisations around the globe.
