Study Abroad in the United States: Tuition Fees & Scholarships

There are no two ways about it: tuition fees in the United States can be expensive. Schools are free to set their own tuition fees. Tuition fees can vary greatly from school to school, so you'll need to check how much your program costs before applying. Fees can also vary greatly between public and private schools.

Loans to cover tuition fees and living expenses are available from the American government. You'll normally need to start paying back any loans six months after you graduate. Do be aware that some of these loans, even those from the federal government, do come with interest rates. In some cases, your home country might be able to give you some funding. In some countries, this funding might well come with a lower interest rate.

Despite this, the quality of American education does still make studying there worthwhile. 

But the combination of great education and high tuition fees does also mean that there are plenty of scholarship options available for those wishing to study in the United States. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of scholarships available to international students. These range from stipends or bursaries through to fully-funded full rides. Some scholarships are also dependent on which subject you study, which school you study at, or which state you study in. You can find a full list here.
