Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) is a reference institution in the Portuguese university education system. With a little over 50 years, it is the best University in Portugal by Times Higher Education, for the 2nd consecutive year. With a reputation for excellence, high-level research, and a strong connection to society, the UCP is a national institution, with four centers. Integrating 16 Faculties, from Business Economics, Law, to Health Sciences, Humanities, or Theology, was more than 37 000 Undergraduate, 12 000 Masters, and 700 Doctoral degrees in more than 170 Programs.
In Braga, UCP is represented by the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Catholic University of Portugal. Inherited the history and tradition of the Faculty of Philosophy - the oldest university in the city of Braga, founded in 1947, signal of the centuries-old presence of the Society of Jesus in Higher Education -, it was the first Faculty of the Portuguese Catholic University.
Rooted in an old wisdom tradition, but permanently open to the questions posed by modernity, this Faculty promotes a university environment that is both creative and reflexive, plural and critical, guiding its academic activity for excellence in teaching and research, in the training of its students and in the service to society.
In its actual configuration the Faculty is now offering eight undergraduate courses: Philosophy, Data of Sciences, Portuguese Studies, Social Service, Tourism and Communication Sciences and Psychology. As graduate training we can highlight the master degrees in Tourism Management, but also in Psychology, Educational Sciences and Digital Communication, between the fourteen master's degrees and three PhD courses. With a strong implementation in the community, the courses offer several possibilities to interact with the community, to develop professional and personal skills. In total, the Faculty has 70 full-time teachers and 800 students.
